Famous from BBC Springwatch this is an expansive and accessible reserve. There are several large hides, some two level. It connects to the adjacent Dunwich Beach and surrounding countryside via many paths. Several circular routes around the site are available.
We saw March Harriers, Curlews, other waterfowl, Red Deer and Starlings murmurating.
The visitor centre has very friendly volunteers and staff with a well stocked shop and excellent cafe.

Nature seen at its best. On arrival before entering the reserve stop and observe the array of garden birds using the feeders. Stunning. Ample parking, friendly helpful staff. Well stocked shop with a lovely cafe offering a good selection of food. The reserve is well maintained. The hides are always kept clean. The birds putting on their displays on our visit were the best yet. Kingfisher eagerly waiting for lunch. Dives down twice to retrieve fish and perches on a post for quite a while allowing us to admire its beautiful colours and the elegance of this little bird.
A female marsh harrier just gliding on the thermals immediately in front of the hide and occasionally resting on a shrub giving us the opportunity to view the sheer beauty of this bird. The male marsh harrier flies over the reeds looking for lunch. Whooper swans, widgeons, teals and other species gathered on the wetland which can be viewed from 2 hides either side of the area. Deers randomly seen around the reserve together with some beautiful horses grazing on one area of the reserve. A regular place visited by us. Highly recommend.

Our favourite place in the country.
Lovely welcoming staff in the visitors centre and cafe (gorgeous breakfasts!)
Lots of ways parking and signs to direct you. Always so much wildlife and care goes into this place. We find it a very calming and special place to visit and since moving, happily drive 2h to spend the day here.

One of the best bird reserves in England, fantastic cafe with fresh food cooked by volunteers and beautiful walks through the reeds and by the sea. Have seen bearded tits, kingfishers, harriers, bitterns, spoonbills, the list goes on. Never disappoints.

Lovely reserve but the cafe has got very expensive and the menu choice is limited compared to pre covid. Used to come alot as we are members but don't bother using cafe.

Minsmere was fantastic despite poor weather. Beautiful nature reserve covering, lakes, reed beds, woodland and coastal environments. The bird hides were well maintained and offered great views of birdlife. Managed to see a wide variety of birds and wildlife. The cafe was great with a good selection of light meals, snacks and drinks for all dietary requirements.
